ISSIA Magazine

Founded in February 2020, the ISSIA Magazine is a leading youth-led social issues publication and the first inter-school magazine in Hong Kong; we target SDG 4 (quality education), with a focus on target 4.7 (global citizenship) as a community-driven, peer-to-peer platform for global issues education.

ISSIA Magazine ED1
At 95 pages, we feature a plethora of student work, ranging from articles and poems, to student artwork and photography submissions across Hong Kong. We discuss LGBTQ+ Identity in Hong Kong, mental health, restorative justice, capitalism, gentrification, foreign domestic workers, refugees and more! We had a total of 3000+ reads.

ISSIA ONLINE
Our online media publication (issiamagazine.com) serves as the hub for our online magazine content. We have published more than 170+ articles, in addition to international contributions. We also introduced “ISSIA Weekly”, a weekly roundup of select articles from ISSIA Online!

ISSIA Design Team
Our in-house design team is in charge of the visual aspects of the magazine, be it typesetting to graphics and illustrations - accompanying our in-depth articles.

IDEATION
Contributors come up with topics they are interested in; they receive guidance from our editors. They could also participate in one-off opportunities.
RESEARCH & STORYTELLING
Contributors look into their issue of interest, delving deep into the subject area with the help of our editors.
WRITING
Contributors put pen to paper (more likely their laptop), turning their ideas into a robust article.
pEER-TO-PEER REVIEW AND FEEDBACK
Contributors receive copy-edits and feedback from our editors and work to finalize their articles for publishing (across our distribution channels).
