Advocacy

At ISSIA, we are advocates for the SDGs (sustainable development goals). Particularly, our advocacy focuses on education and social entrepreneurship.

Locally, ISSIA has been represented at the HK Mental Health Conference (Youth Summit) and across schools in Hong Kong. We have also been represented on global platforms such as the World Humanitarian Forum (WHF London 2021), Asia Pacific International Schools Conference (AISC 2021) and the Enactus World Cup.

ISSIA has also been featured on the World Economic Forum, Nasdaq, SCMP, Ariana Magazine, Expat Living, Little Steps Asia etc. and have conducted research surveys on COVID-19, social engagement and more.

Recently, our President, Reese, presented on behalf of ISSIA HK on the topic of "𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: 𝗚𝗲𝗻 𝗭 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗘𝗜" at the 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗖 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭)

The presentation involved a multimedia showcase of our 𝗗𝗘𝗜 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗲𝗹 and an episode of our 𝗟𝗚𝗕𝗧𝗜𝗤𝗔+ 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀. We also proposed a 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁-𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 to DEI at international schools, emphasizing 1) the cross-cutting nature of DEI and 2) students' role in co-creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive educational environment.

Having held focus group discussions over the past few months, the presentation involved the collaborative input and efforts of multiple departments across ISSIA.

The presentation was met with enthusiastic response and follow ups from teachers, principals, professors and NGO leaders in the audience. We hope to continue to advance DEI here at ISSIA and in the wider community as part of our advocacy!
