About us

ISSIA is a youth-led non-profit based in the Asia Pacific. We cultivate global citizenship and empower young changemakers through peer-to-peer and project-based learning as the go-to hub for all things global issues with 300+ members across 70+ schools.
WHO WE ARE
At ISSIA, We aim to advance educational equity —particularly, through building young peoples' capacity in changemaking, 21st century skills and building youth-led ecosystems.
Since 2019, with a focus on SDG 4 (Quality Education) and 17 (Partnership for the Goals), we've established more than 30+ projects as the largest youth-led organization in Hong Kong. For example, the ISSIA Magazine (awarded a grant by Kids4Kids), 180+ articles on our website (issiahk.org), ISSIAMUN, a debate program, a docuseries, podcasts and Youth NGOs Conferences, where we connected 20+ youth-led NGOs through up-skilling workshops, panels etc.
We've been featured on the World Economic Forum, Nasdaq, SCMP, RTHK, Ariana Magazine, Expat Living, Little Steps Asia etc; represented at the Asia Pacific International Schools Conference (AISC 2021), World Humanitarian Forum (WHF London 2021) and won Enactus' 'Action Accelerator'.
WHAT WE DO

Global education, as a system, hasn't fundamentally changed in the last 100 years. At ISSIA, we aim to provide a different kind of education — we cultivate global citizenship and empower young changemakers through peer-to-peer and project-based learning.
With this model — everything is youth led and youth operated, meaning peers share best practices in a collaborative space where we work towards the SDGs. We actively involve a large number of local school students in our team to provide co-curricular global citizenship education through a peer-to-peer model and project-based model.
We believe in the notion where the 'whole is more than the sum of its parts'. As the largest youth-led NGO Hong Kong, We have been working on co-creating a wider coalition and ecosystem of aspiring and leading changemakers in Hong Kong and elsewhere in Asia Pacific.
